in Higher Education

08/2009 - 07/2011

Project Partners

Background

On the road to knowledge based economy we are challenged to find solutions of how to combine the needs of individuals, labour market and the provision of purposeful study programmes in HE.

Continuous training and professional development in EU are facing new challenges to keep up with the increased competitiveness of the global knowledge based economy. Practice oriented higher education study programmes – or vocational higher education – is one of the most expanding sectors in vocational education. An European question is the question of how to ensure that (part-time) study programmes are current, relevant and functional with regard to the needs of employment? To this question our partnership is prepared to find answers.

Points Of Interest

ProParti is concentrating on part time study programmes in HE and especially on the challenges of creating new part-time study programmes which will acknowledge:

  • needs of a student; meaning and value of personal competencies of the students (formal-, informal learning, work experience, learning abilities as well as disabilities etc.)
  • needs of the labour market stakeholders
  • needs of the educational organisations

General objective of the partnership is to develop the understanding of different types of part time study programmes and their role in HE and describing the range for possible approaches for pedagogical strategies for part time study programmes.

Objectives

Approach

The objectives will be achieved by intensive cooperation by all partners. All partners will contribute by bringing their specific experience to use, making available the relative documentation, participating in the work processes before, during and in between the seminars, drawing up parts of the final documents and contributing towards the dissemination of the results in their respective countries. Each partner will be responsible for the provision of examples of good practices which will be collected by study visits, interviews (students, teachers, administrations, labour market stakeholders etc.), written documents and other purposeful means.
